Extreme Violence 2 (AmiGameJam 2024)
A downloadable game
Version 0.10
AmigGame Jam 2024 Edition
(c) 2024 PixelPlop Games
This is an Amiga Disk File (.ADF) and requires an Amiga computer to run or alternatively through an Amiga emulator or on an A500 Mini or equivalent!
This game was made for AmiGameJam 2024
https://itch.io/jam/amigamejam
The theme was "The Sequel That Never Was"
It's an unofficial sequel to the Amiga Public Domain game Extreme Violence created by Simon Green in 1991.
(It was later featured on an Amiga Power magazine cover disk in 1993.)
The sequel has 4 player split screen, 50hz screen modes, AI Bots, and many additional gameplay features.
It was developed over 6 months and written in C using my custom game libs.
If people like the game I will continue to work on it after the Jam.
The game is fully playable but missing some polish, optimisation, and bug fixing.
I also had to cut many features I would have liked to add such as additional game modes and gfx options.
The Bot AI is something I would like to improve but I left it too late and ran out of time.
Recent bugfixes:
Version 0.10
- Fixed potential crash when in Frontend on some systems.
- Fixed crash on exit.
- Fixed Loading Screen and Frontend Menus running too fast.
- Fixed big graphical glitches when the map preview scrolls on and off.
- A lot of restructuring to try and make the game more system friendly.
Version 0.9
- If a player gets several kills in quick succession an announcer will say "EXTREME"!
- AI Bots should be able to correct themselves if they get stuck going around in circles for a while.
v0.8
- 1 line fix that stops the game crashing if there are no AI players!!!
v0.7
- AI will attempt to dodge incoming bullets.
- Improvements to the AI path finding.
- Players should no longer be able to get walled in when level generates.
v0.6
- Enabling the Extra Joysticks should not crash the game when temporarily re-enabling the system.
- Radar dots are now the correct colours for all players in horizontal split.
- Option to turn on/off permanent blood splats.
- Option to turn on/off spectating other players until after all human players are out.
Gameplay:
The game is best experienced when played with friends!!!
It was designed primarily with that in mind but AI Bots are provided if you have no friends.
Up to 4 people can play at once with the aid of a parallel port joystick adapter.
(You should be able to play the game over Amiga Live! with 3 other people but this has not been tested yet.)
Requirements:
Amiga OCS or better with 1MB Chip Memory.
1 or more Joysticks. (2 or more for playing against friends.)
(The game 'should' run with 512KB Chip/512KB Slow but the arenas will be smaller and the experience will be compromised.)
Tools Used:
Visual Studio Code with Bartman^Abyss extension. (Coding)
WinUAE (Testing)
Aseprite (Graphics)
DarkAudacity (Sound)
OpenMPT (Music)
PTPlayer6.1 (Music Playback)
audio_mixer_v3 (Audio Mixing)

Having an Amiga gaming night tonight with my family and after days of testing different versions of the original and struggling to find a working copy of v7.23 for my A500 Mini, I've decided to use your version.
Works a treat once you tell the A500 which controllers to use.
I read the whole page but didn't see any mention of what specifically this version improves upon or adds over the original game, would love to know more.
Even if you don't release any further versions, I thank you for keeping the legacy of this game alive! <3
Very cool game, thank you.
Definitely fun as a multiplayer game. I also included it in my new video along with other recently released Amiga games.
Thanks for the video.
Too bad we did not have it last week. We had an Amiga party and this would have been a screen star!
Extreme Violence 2 v0.9 Longplay video:
Nice game!
Thanks for the video Saberman!
Nice one, use to play first one back in the day🤘🏻
