Echodrome is a game for the Amiga computer!

Requirements:

Amiga OCS/ECS or better with 1Mb memory. (512KB Chip/512KB Slow)
Joystick or Keyboard.

About:

This game was made for AmiGameJam 2025 on itch.io:

https://itch.io/jam/amigamejam

The theme this year was:

"Return of the Arcade"

The game was developed over 6 months and written in C++.

Gameplay:

Welcome to The ECHODROME!

The ultimate digital arena of death and destruction!

Use the JOYSTICK to move around and FIRE to shoot your weapons.

Holding down FIRE will LOCK your direction and automatically shoot.

Kill all the enemy waves to exit each room.

Avoid enemy contact and don't step on the deadly arena MINES!

Locate and kill the arena BOSS to receive a BIG BONUS and progress to the next arena.

Choose your route wisely as some rooms are deadlier than others!

Keyboard:

CURSOR Keys to MOVE and Left-SHIFT to FIRE.

(Can be redefined in the Options menu but be aware Amiga Keyboards are fussy when too many keys are pressed.)

Twin Stick controls:

- 2 Joysticks

If you plug 2 joysticks in then 1 should move and the other shoots in 8 directions.

You must change the Input Style in the Options menu to:

Twin Stick (2 Joysticks Required)

- CD32 pad support

If your setup supports 4 button joysticks then you can use the buttons to shoot in 8 different directions a bit like a twin stick shooter.

You must change the Input Style in the Options menu to:

Four Button (CD32 Pad Experimental)

(NOTE: You will also need to set your Joystick to CD32 Pad in your UAE, MiSTer, or A500 Mini options.)

Thank you for this, here is my tribute...

Hey thanks so much for your tribute! To get 4 button pads working in MiSTer I think you need to tell it you want to emulate a CD32 Pad and then select 4 Button mode in the game Options. CharlieFAR on Twitch played it like this. I noticed you were collecting a lot of mines in your playthrough. A few people have asked me to make them easier to see. I will have a think. You have a new subscriber.

Please can you add correct screen initialization?

When launched from non basic low-res PAL (e.g. from WinUAE+P96) won't correctly open game screen.

(I know there are workarounds like using JST EXECUTE... etc. but a game code fix would be better ;))

That's one configuration I've not tried. I will look into it. Thanks.

Here is the new version on my A500 with projektor. This must be one of the best "amiga only" arcade games ever!

Thanks for making the video. Your Amiga setup is really cool.

Version 0.11 is out!

Very cool, arcade-style shooter with smooth gameplay, reminiscent of classic arcade machines. We also really liked the many extras and the TRON-like graphic style. Our German-language review can be found at 02:04:23. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

This game is awesome. Donated! :)

Yes you need 2 Joysticks to get the real fun out of it. I'm using 2 monsterjoysticks and this is pure arcade fun feeling!
I would be very happy when you continue to develop this game further on.

Runs well on my A500+ with 2MB Chip.

On my A4000 it is a little unstable. Sometimes running, but very rare. But my A4000 is equipped with 68060Rev6/BFG9060/ZZ9000. Problably you can improve it, to get this running / or having some tipps on my BigBox-A4000.

It runs well on my A1200 with PiStorm32CM4!

Thanks! And thankyou for the compatibility report. That is always helpful information.

Version 0.11 is out now which is a bug fix version which tries to improve compatability. (e.g. Memory allocation should be more OS friendly.)

Very nice :-)

Thanks as always Saberman! Version 0.11 is out which improves the music (to the best of my ability) and has a jazzed up game over screen and hi-score entry screen with fireworks and it's own music.
